HAWA Community Trip on the Abbey Line 💜🚆

Today, HAWA Multicultural Services CIC was delighted to take a group of our ladies on a special community trip along the Abbey Line.

Representing HAWA, Director Zia Kiani accompanied the ladies throughout the day, starting with a tour of St Albans Abbey Station before travelling together on the Abbey Line to Watford Junction and Bricket Wood.

For some of our ladies, this was a particularly special experience as it was their first-ever journey on a train. The trip gave them an opportunity to learn how to use the train, navigate stations and understand onward travel arrangements, helping to build their confidence and independence when using public transport.

A huge thank you to Kate, Val and Steve for their incredibly warm welcome, kindness and support throughout the day. They took the time to explain the journey, answer questions and make everyone feel comfortable and confident.

The group also enjoyed a lovely stop at the Tea Room at Bricket Wood Station, with delicious refreshments, cakes and drinks while everyone had the opportunity to relax, chat and enjoy each other’s company. ☕🍰

At HAWA, we recognise that activities like this are about much more than travel. They help reduce loneliness and isolation, build confidence, encourage independence and create opportunities for women from diverse communities to connect and experience something new together.

It was wonderful to see the ladies enjoying the journey, supporting one another and returning home with greater confidence in using public transport.
