Ending Domestic Violence: Webinar

A webinar focusing on domestic abuse will be scheduled on March 9th, 2021. Here is some info regarding the webinar.

‘According to the the Office for National Statistics (ONS), in the year ending March 2020, an estimated 2.3 million people suffered from domestic abuse. The reality is likely to be even worse. Domestic abuse often goes unreported, so these statistics only reflect a partial picture of the true levels of domestic violence in the UK. The introduction of national lockdowns due to Covid-19 has thrown this problem into stark light. By confining individuals to their homes, it has not only intensified abusive relationships, but has also made it increasingly difficult for survivors to seek help. In the first three weeks of lockdown, beginning in March 2020, the project Counting Dead Women recorded 14 women were killed by men, the highest rate for 11 years, and Refuge reported a 66% increase in the number of calls to the National Domestic Abuse helpline between March and May of last year.’
